Celtic Cuffs

As stated in my Mystery Braid Band post, I am a fan of Celtic things. The history and designs offer so much beauty and inspiration. This first Celtic cuff, was designed, cut and made completely by me. I do not use an assembly line of any sort. It is simply quality leather, my designs, my tools, and my hands. Take a look at these pictures featuring several original Celtic themed designs that I have completed.

I was asked to make a Celtic cuff with more of a feminine touch. I added colored leather for backing and about 30 Swarovski crystals. This piece has become one of my most popular designs to date.

These particular Celtic Cross bands take about a day to complete. After all, each piece is handmade. There isn't an assembly line. Just me, my tools, and my hands.

James Bands uses quality, oil tanned Kodiak leather as the main leather piece for cuffs with this much detail. It holds the shape while remaining soft, pliable, yet can handle a lot of wear and will last a long while.

Buffalo & Indian Bands

Along with loving Celtic culture, I enjoy American history.  I love the history of  my favorite, and native state, Texas.  Native American history and culture intrigues me as well.  When my wife found these authentic replicas of the Buffalo and Indian head nickels, I doubted they would work for what I do. After a few designs and an equal amount of changes, we are both happy with the results. So please, check out these photos featuring another custom, unisex design. If you would like to order, email me at jamesleatherbands@gmail.com  Double click on the images for a close up view of the pictures.

The Crasher's Cuff

While at a Rebuilding Together fundraiser, I had the good fortune of being introduced to DIY Network hosts Matt Muenster of Bath Crashers and Chris Grundy of Cool Tools. Fast forward a few conversations.......The challenge was to mold form and function without sacrificing either. It needed a sharp, clean look and still be able to withstand the rigors of construction. The first obstacle was to make a cover for the watch face that could be reversible. This way, when the face is visible, the cover can be attached to the underside so that it will not be lost. For this cuff Matt ordered, the cover is attached by magnets that take 30 pounds of pressure to remove, which also makes it reversible. I wanted to be sure that even if it were to snag on something, it would not come off. The brass to match the watch was another challenge, but as you can see it worked out. The finishing touch, was the laser etching of Matt's signature on the top and bottom of the cover. It turned out awesome! Way cooler than when your mom would write your name in your jacket.

After laying hands on his new watch cuff, Matt sent me the highest compliment I could have hoped for......."It's amazing......It's art."

Here are some fantastic pictures of my work, taken by Jake Felts of Felts Photography. Make sure you go all the way to the end so you can watch the demo video!

"Met this guy, BC James, a few months ago at a Rebuilding Together Fundraiser and we got to talking. The result of that conversation is now one of the coolest things I own!

A custom made leather watch band that blew me away. Check it out and check out his website. Super talented dude. I have a feeling the more I wear this thing, the more I'm gonna post about it.

Thanks BC. "

Floral Bands

When I was dating my wife, I knew that I wanted to propose to her with a ring you couldn't buy at any retailer.  It had to be unique and completely one of a kind. So I took inspiration from a band that she loved and designed her wedding ring. It ended up with a slightly Celtic, yet elvish look to it. We are both geeks, so yes, elvish is an adjective we use. She and I love her ring so much that it seemed only natural to make a leather cuff based off of that design. The leather bands ended up with a western look to it. To no surprise, my wife really loves the floral bands. I sincerely hope you enjoy them as well.

Feather Cuffs

My business is most definitely a family one. My wife and I like to throw out ideas for designs to each other. End results are often a combined thing. For instance, my wife showed me a picture of feather jewelry and suggested a design in leather. I changed several things about her idea and came up with what has been a top seller.  The feather cuff is a unisex accessory and we have made them with several different color combinations per customer requests.

One Band To Rule Them All

I had a request to incorporate Star Wars, Firefly, and Star Trek into a band. The customer wanted one leather band to rule them all. I wanted it several layers and had an overwhelming urge to incorporate metal as well. After being given artistic freedom to design it the way I envisioned it, this was the end product. Being a sci-fi fan myslef let me just say.....I had a freakin blast making this puppy!
